There are many forms of sexual violence in our society. We are here to help the victims and survivors on their path to healing. This is another of our other key areas of focus here at Abuse & Rape Crisis Center, we work with an average of 150 survivors each year. Working Toward a Brighter Future

Hotline

24/7 Crisis Support

Trained counselor/advocates are available to listen and support you when you are in crisis. Staff assist in safety planning, crisis intervention, reviewing options, and referrals to other community resources.

Counseling

Phone and in-person

Whether you are in an abusive relationship, planning to leave, or dealing with the emotions and trauma from a previous abusive relationship, peer counseling may help start your healing journey. We provide counseling on-site and off-site to meet the needs of our clients.

Advocacy and Accompaniment

Legal, medical, and other systems

There is a lot of information out there and often our clients are working within multiple systems. Our advocates and counselors are trained and ready to assist you in navigating and supporting you through these systems. Systems may include, the legal system, the medical system, public benefits, and housing, among others.

Emergency Shelter

3-day safe housing options

Safe housing options are available to victims and their dependents fleeing a sexual assault. Shelter is confidential and we are able to accommodate victims and families fleeing with (most) pets.

Support Group

Ad-hoc Group

This is a peer support group facilitated by a staff member. If you are interested in participating in a group, please contact us.

Trauma Therapy

No insurance needed

Trauma therapy is provided by a licensed professional. Services are available on-site or may be via phone. Like all of our services, this is free and available whether the abuse is currently happening or happened in the past.

Transportation

Support Service

Assistance may in the form of bus tokens or other transportation options when directly related to the abuse. Safety is first and foremost and may look different for each client needing assistance.

Child care

Support Service

Child care may be available in order for you to participate in other services or systems that are directly related to the abuse. For example: during counseling, to file a Protection From Abuse order, to attend court proceedings, etc. Please call us at least 24-hours in advance in you will be needing child care.

Rape Exam Accompaniment

Support Service

Rape exams may be traumatic and triggering after an assault. We are available to support you through the process, hold your hand if needed, and walk you through the next steps and your victims' rights. We can accompany you to the police if and when you choose to make a report and support you if you aren't ready for that yet.
